Our management team has more than 100 years of diversified management and leadership experience in the areas of business, education, engineering, finance, sales, federal and state government, and the Navajo Nation.

President and CEO

David Silversmith has had a 30 year career with the Navajo Nation which has provided him with an exceptionally diversified management background. He speaks the Navajo language fluently and has managed the installation of solar (photovoltaic) power generation systems throughout the Southwestern United States from Southern California to Santa Fe, New Mexico. As Project Manager of Native American Photovoltaics (NAPV) David installed and maintained photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems for remote residences in the Dilkon and Teesto Chapters of the Navajo Nation. David has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Oklahoma University of Arts and Sciences, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Chief Financial Officer

Michael York has been successful in domestic and international management positions in renewable energy, manufacturing, transportation, construction and defense. His diversified background includes consulting, teaching at the university and graduate levels, operations, operations research/systems analysis, project management and financial management. He is accomplished in Native American and international settings and maintains an office in Nicaragua where he is established in both the private and public sectors. Michael led the start up of the Navajo Nation Transit System in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, and, as part of a management team, successfully launched a construction company installing hundreds of solar electrical (photovoltaic) power systems on homes and businesses in Northern California. Additionally, he has produced feasibility studies for renewable energy power projects, including a 35.6 MegaWatt biomass cogeneration project in Nicaragua under a grant from the California Energy Commission. Michael has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.

Member, Board of Directors

John Birznieks is retired from the U.S. Army and experienced in project and operations management, strategic planning, problem analysis and creative solutions. He has a broad background in understanding how government functions and in-depth knowledge of non-profit development and operations. He is multi-lingual with extensive international experience including living and working in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and many other countries. John has a degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard's Kennedy School.

Johnny Long is an experienced business owner with a background in accounting and many years of management experience with the Navajo Nation, serving in a number of accounting, procurement and management positions. He speaks the Navajo language fluently and attended Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, and Lamson Business College in Phoenix, Arizona.

Virginia A. Benally is an especially capable administrator who has held the elected office of Secretary and Treasurer at the Crystal Chapter (local government) of the Navajo Nation in Crystal, New Mexico. She speaks the Navajo language fluently and has worked in management positions for the Navajo Nation for 30 years. She has a background in Sociology and Business Administration from Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah.
